Sydney, August 24 – Magic Albert featured at Warwick Farm on Saturday when handy mare Lieserl resumed from a spell to score a tenacious win in the last race on the card.

Having her first start for Kevin Moses in the 1200 metre Ratings 86 event, Lieserl dug deep to get the better of Dealers with three lengths back to the third horse.

A lightly raced mare Lieserl was resuming from a spell of 34 weeks and has now won two races and placed twice from eight starts with earnings of $135,800.

Raced by the Cloros family Syndicate, Lieserl was purchased by Jon Freyer Bloodstock for $57,500 at the 2006 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from the draft of Goodwood Farm.

Lieserl is the first foal of good metropolitan winner Sri Lanka, a half-sister by Sri Pekan (USA) to juvenile stakes-winner Key Issue from the Marscay mare Momentaire, winner of the Listed AJC Widden Stakes.

With Magic Albert’s fourth crop of foals now two year-olds, the son of Zeditave could be on the verge of an upswing as the progeny from his better books of mares now start to come through.

Completely free of Northern Dancer blood, Magic Albert is an affordable and proven option at $16,500 for mares looking to get away from the prevalent sirelines.
