Melbourne, November 3 – Magic Albert filly Roma Giaconda turned in a game effort to finish third in the Group I VRC Oaks at Flemington on Thursday behind Mosheen and Dowager Queen.

A home bred for Peter Devitt and Les Gordon trained by David Hayes, Roma Giaconda has shown plenty of talent in her first preparation winning a maiden at Albury before placing behind Manawanui in the Group II ATC Stan Fox Stakes.

From just six starts, Roma Giaconda has posted a win, three placings and prizemoney excess of $165,000, so looms as a filly with a bright future in the autumn.

She is from the Peintre Celebre (USA) mare Gypsy Giaconda, a half-sister to Group II winner Moon Dragon from the famed ‘Leica’ family.
