February 26 – Early last spring Tetsuko had been favourite to be winner, and stakes winner, number one for I Am Invincible and while she missed by a head that day, she put it right to become winner number seven on the Kensington Track on Wednesday, with Fuld’s Bet scoring on debut at Ascot later in the day to be winner number eight.

Trained by Gerald Ryan, Tetsuko had been one of the more impressive early season performers at the barrier trials and started favourite in the Listed ATC Gimcrack Stakes based on that, finishing second to Alpha Miss after being driven to the lead.

Ridden a touch more quietly at her second start, and relishing the easier company, she extended nicely under Brenton Avdulla to score a convincing win and Gerald Ryan has flagged some feature two year-old races as her target now.

“This time we taught her to settle in her trials and it was good to see her do it here on raceday and find the line,” Ryan said.

“She was really fast early but we changed this around a bit with her and it’s worked out well.

“She has to go to the next level now but she’s going well.”

A half-sister to stakes-placed Star Cat and Purrpurrlena, Tetsuko (pictured) was a $110,000 purchase by Gerald Ryan from the draft of Yarraman Park Stud at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale and is the seventh winner from stakes-winner Magdalena.

The Simon Miller trained filly Fuld’s Bet was sent out favourite for the juvenile event at Ascot and coasted home an easy two and three quarter length winner at her first start.

A $52,000 Inglis Weanling Sale purchase for Aquanita Racing from the Middlebrook Valley Lodge draft, Fuld’s Bet is the second winner from unraced O’Reilly mare Dublin Me Bet, a grand-daughter of Group II winner Double Your Bet.

I Am Invincible has now sired eight winners in Australasia in his first season, including two stakes winners, and has had a stellar year in the sales ring in 2014 with 35 of his second crop yearlings sold at the major sales so far at an average of over $90,000 off an $11,000 service fee.

He has six yearlings catalogued for next week’s Inglis Premier Sale with another five entered for Easter.
