It was a good 24 hours for Brave Smash (Jpn) with a new winner at the last Hong Kong meeting of the season at Happy Valley last night and a debut two year-old winner in WA.

Champion trainer David Hayes got the cash in the 1200m Class Four sprint with three year-old Brave Smash gelding Starry Show, who started life in Queensland.

A dominant debut winner at Townsville in March last year racing as Ten Pins, followed by some good runs in better company, he was subsequently sold to Hong Kong and has been a work in progress.

He produced his best run to date when surging up the fence to score by nearly two lengths for Richard Kingscote.

A $65,000 Magic Millions Book 2 purchase from Noralla Stud for Livistona Grazing Company, Starry Show is the first winner from Voodoo Lady (NZ), a winning half-sister by Pins to Group III winner Sweet Leader.

His grey colouring is coming down his female line with third dam the glorious grey Group winner Swiftsynd, the dam of $1.3million earning Group winner Le Zagaletta.

Starry Show is the fourth Hong Kong winner for Brave Smash from just six starters.

Brave Smash also had success in WA with the Grant and Alana Williams trained two year-old filly Quedjinup making a winning debut at Bunbury over 1100m as favourite for Lucy Fiore.

Bred and retained to race by Mt Hallowell Stud, Quedjinup is the third 2YO winner this season for Brave Smash.

The first Yarraman Park bred progeny by Brave Smash will race in the new season offering the potential exciting things to come.

A stunning individual with an outcross Japanese pedigree, Brave Smash stands at a fee of $22,000 this spring.
